This original cover is a lightweight, no-drill solution for 1999–2013 Silverado and Sierra 1500 trucks with 8-foot beds. It offers easy installation and basic weather protection for fleetside or styleside models. You might look for other options if your truck has a different bed size, such as 6.5 feet or 6.6 feet. How Alternatives Compare to DNA Motoring
Aurorasters Soft Roll-Up for 8ft Silverado
The Aurorasters Soft Roll-Up 8ft shares the same soft roll-up structure and black color as the DNA Motoring cover. It targets the same 8-foot bed size for Silverado and Sierra trucks. The key difference lies in its specific design for fifth-wheel towing compatibility. While the DNA Motoring model focuses on general aerodynamics and gas savings, the Aurorasters prioritizes full bed access for towing setups. Both offer no-drill installation, but the Aurorasters is better suited if you frequently use a fifth-wheel hitch. It gives up some of the DNA Motoring's specific anti-curl corner features for this specialized utility. Choose this if towing is your primary need.
Perfit Liner 8 ft Soft Roll-Up Tonneau Cover
The Perfit Liner 8ft Soft Roll-Up offers precise dimensional data that the DNA Motoring cover lacks. It measures 79.1 inches in length, 9.84 inches in width, and weighs 29.9 pounds. The DNA Motoring cover is noted as weighing less than 30 pounds but without an exact figure. Both are soft roll-up styles in black. The Perfit Liner is specifically listed for 2014-2019 models, whereas the DNA Motoring fits the older 1999-2013 range. This makes the Perfit Liner a direct alternative for newer trucks with 8-foot beds. It provides basic weather protection and easy installation. Pick this if you have a 2014-2019 Silverado or Sierra and want exact size verification.
WHALEMOTOR 6.6 ft Soft Roll-Up Silverado Cover
The WHALEMOTOR cover is designed for a different bed size, specifically the 6.6-foot bed. It is not a direct replacement for the 8-foot DNA Motoring cover but serves owners of shorter bed trucks. It shares the soft roll-up style and black color. The DNA Motoring model is strictly for 8-foot beds on 1999-2013 Silverado/Sierra 1500 and 2500HD/3500HD trucks. The WHALEMOTOR fits 07-26 1500 and 07-19 2500/3500 models with the shorter bed. It offers essential weather protection without hard panels. Choose this if your truck has a 6.6-foot bed instead of an 8-foot bed. It provides the same simple, tool-free installation style but for a different vehicle dimension.
Amazon Basics 6.5 ft Soft Roll-Up Tonneau Cover
The Amazon Basics 6.5ft Soft Roll-Up Cover is intended for 6.5-foot Fleetside beds, differing from the 8-foot DNA Motoring cover. It weighs 26.3 pounds, which is lighter than the Perfit Liner but comparable to the DNA Motoring's under-30-pound weight. Both are black, soft roll-up styles. The Amazon Basics model fits 2014-2019 Silverado/Sierra 1500 Fleetside trucks, while the DNA Motoring fits the older 1999-2013 range. The Amazon Basics cover offers reliable weather protection for newer models. It lacks the specific anti-curl features mentioned for the DNA Motoring. Select this if you have a 2014-2019 Fleetside model with a 6.5-foot bed. It provides a no-frills, lightweight solution for bed protection.
MOSTPLUS Roll-Up Soft Vinyl 8 ft
The MOSTPLUS 8ft Soft Roll-Up Vinyl Cover matches the DNA Motoring in bed size and roll-up style. It is also black and fits Silverado and Sierra trucks. However, it is specified for 2014-2018 models, whereas the DNA Motoring covers 1999-2013. Both are soft vinyl constructions for no-drill installation. The MOSTPLUS model emphasizes waterproof protection for 8-foot beds. It provides essential coverage without complex hardware, similar to the DNA Motoring. The main difference is the model year compatibility. Choose the MOSTPLUS if you own a 2014-2018 Silverado or Sierra with an 8-foot bed. It offers a straightforward, durable vinyl cover for newer trucks in that specific year range.
Rough Country Soft Roll-Up for Silverado/Sierra 1500
The Rough Country Soft Roll-Up is designed for a 5-foot 10-inch short bed, not the 8-foot bed of the DNA Motoring cover. It weighs 34 pounds, which is heavier than the DNA Motoring's under-30-pound weight. It uses marine-grade vinyl for durability and features a matte black color. The installation is no-drill, similar to the DNA Motoring. This cover suits owners of 2019-2026 Silverado/Sierra 1500 trucks with short beds. It provides a sleek profile and easy access. Pick this if you have a newer truck with a short bed. It sacrifices the 8-foot coverage for a specialized fit on shorter beds with marine-grade material.
