Spec Comparison: F-150 vs Ram 1500
Compatible Truck
Product A is engineered specifically for the Ford F-150, covering model years from 2015 through 2026. Product B is designed for the Dodge Ram 1500, fitting trucks from 2009 to 2026. These are distinct platforms with different bed rail geometries and mounting points. You must match the cover to your specific vehicle make and model. The Ford version will not fit a Ram, and the Ram version will not fit a Ford. This distinction is the most critical factor in your selection process. Choosing the wrong manufacturer-specific cover will result in installation failure and poor performance.
Bed Size
Product A is sized for a 5.5-foot truck bed. Product B is sized for a 5.7-foot truck bed. Both covers are custom-molded to fit these specific lengths precisely. The difference is small, but it matters for your truck. If you have a 5.5-foot bed, Product A is the correct choice. If you have a 5.7-foot bed, Product B is required. Using a cover that is too short will leave gaps. Using a cover that is too long will not fit the rails. Verify your bed length before ordering to ensure proper fitment.
Cover Style
Both products utilize a retractable cover style. This design allows you to roll the cover back into an aluminum canister at the front of the bed. You gain full access to the bed when fully retracted. The cover slides along side rails using a one-hand operation mechanism. You do not need to lower the tailgate to operate it. There are no snaps, straps, or bundles to manage. This style offers convenience and security compared to soft covers or tri-folds. Both products share this identical operational advantage for daily use.
Material
Product A features an aluminum body with standing seam aluminum slats. Product B also uses aluminum slats for the cover panel. Both include aluminum side rails and an aluminum canister. The material choice provides durability and resistance to corrosion. The slats are described as virtually impenetrable to knives and rain. A dark matte powder coat protects the top surface from scratches and marks. This robust construction supports up to 600 lbs of evenly distributed weight. Both covers offer the same structural integrity and material quality.
Installation
Product A installs through clamping and requires no drilling. Product B also installs via clamping with no drilling required. Both systems attach to the truck bed rails securely. Note that Product A mentions drilling may be needed for drainage tubes on certain models. Product B does not specify this exception in its features. The primary installation method for both is drill-free clamping. This makes the setup process straightforward and reversible. You can remove the covers without damaging your truck. The locking mechanism engages automatically when the cover is fully closed.
