The waterproof material protects cargo from rain and snow. If you want a secure fit without drilling holes in your truck, the all-metal clamps and latch system provide a tight seal. Who should skip it
Skip this product if your truck has a different bed size. The listing specifies a 6.4ft bed only. It does not fit 5.7-foot or 6.6-foot beds. Key specs explained for this cover
Bed Size: 6.4 ft
This cover is designed strictly for the 6.4-foot bed length. You must verify your truck has this exact bed size before purchasing. Many Ram 1500 models come with different bed lengths, such as 5.7 feet. Using the wrong size will result in a poor fit and gaps. Check your vehicle specifications to ensure this listing matches your truck bed dimensions accurately.
Material: 26.5oz Waterproof Material
The cover uses heavy-duty fabric rated at 26.5 ounces per square yard. This thickness provides durability against tears and abrasion from cargo. The waterproof construction helps keep rain and snow out of your truck bed. It is suitable for protecting gear from moisture. Compare this weight to lighter covers to gauge long-term resilience against weather exposure.
Cover Style: Soft Roll-Up
This style allows the cover to roll up towards the cab. You can roll it fully up to access the entire bed for tall items. It offers quick access without removing the cover. This design is practical for hauling large loads. It differs from hard covers that require disassembly. Choose this if you need frequent, easy access to your cargo area.
Lock Type: Latch-Locking System
The cover uses a latch mechanism to secure it to the truck. This system provides a basic level of security against casual theft. It keeps the cover in place during travel. It is not a high-security lock but offers peace of mind. Compare this to tailgate locks or integrated locking rails for enhanced security needs.
Installation: No-Drill
You can install this cover without drilling holes into your truck. The hardware clamps onto the bed rails for a secure fit. This method preserves your truck’s original structure and finish. It makes installation straightforward and reversible. You can remove the cover easily if needed. This is ideal for owners who want a clean look without permanent modifications.
Design and build details
According to the listing, the cover uses a heavy-duty 26.5oz waterproof material. This fabric density helps block rain, snow, and road spray. The soft roll-up style allows you to fold the cover back completely. This layout provides full access to your bed for tall items. The design prioritizes convenience over rigid security when parked.
The structure relies on stainless steel crossbars and aluminum side rails. The crossbars are slightly arched to create upward tension. This shape helps keep the fabric wrinkle-free and prevents water from pooling on top. All-metal clamps secure the rails to the truck bed. This metal hardware supports a tight fit without requiring drilling or cutting during installation.
A latch-locking system secures the cover in place. Side seals include Velcro strips to enhance the weatherproof barrier. This combination aims to keep dust, sand, and ice out of your cargo area. The streamlined contour reduces wind resistance at highway speeds. This design choice helps lower road noise and may improve fuel efficiency. The finish is functional, focusing on durability and ease of use rather than aesthetic flair.
Setup and everyday use
Installation requires no drilling or cutting. The package includes stainless steel crossbars, aluminum side rails, and all-metal clamps. You secure the cover using these clamps along the bed rails. The listing notes that setup is straightforward, provided you follow the included instructions. Fitment depends on your exact bed size. This model is for the 6.4-foot bed of 2019-2026 Dodge Ram 1500 trucks without a toolbox. Verify your bed length before proceeding. Once installed, the latch-locking system secures the cover. Side seals with Velcro strips help create a tight fit. The stainless steel crossbars are slightly arched. This curvature creates upward support from beneath. That tension keeps the fabric wrinkle-free and prevents water pooling on the surface. Daily use involves rolling the cover back. The soft roll-up design allows you to fully retract the cover. This provides unobstructed access to the entire truck bed. You can load tall items without removing the cover entirely. The sealed design blocks dust, sand, ice, and snow from entering the bed. It also prevents water and dirt from settling on cargo. The streamlined contour reduces wind resistance. This feature cuts down on road noise at highway speeds. Improved aerodynamics may help increase fuel efficiency. The waterproof material keeps cargo dry in rain or snow. You simply roll the cover back to access your load. When finished, you roll it forward and latch it. The all-metal clamps hold the position securely.
Before You Buy This Cover
You need to verify your Ram 1500 has the 6.4-foot bed. The listing warns that year compatibility does not guarantee fit. Many trucks use shorter beds. Check your bed length first. You should also ensure your truck lacks a Ram Toolbox. This cover does not fit models with a toolbox installed. Keep the fabric clean. Rinse off dirt and sand regularly. Dust accumulation can wear the material faster. The soft roll-up style requires no drilling. You can install it yourself with the included clamps. This option suits those who need full bed access. It is less durable than hard covers. Choose it for convenience over maximum security. Compare it with tri-fold or quad-fold styles if you prefer different access patterns. This cover is a practical choice for daily drivers who prioritize ease of use and weather protection for their cargo.
