How to choose the right one
-
Check bed length first
Your truck bed length dictates which cover fits. The Bestwyll Retractable Hard Cover 5.5ft is designed specifically for 5.5 ft short beds. If you have a standard 5.8 ft bed on a Chevy or GMC, you must select the model labeled for that size. Using a cover meant for a different bed length will result in poor fitment and potential damage. Always verify your exact bed measurement before purchasing.
-
Select manual or electric
Decide between manual and electric operation based on your convenience needs. The Bestwyll Retractable Hard Cover 5.5ft uses a manual retract mechanism, offering flexibility without motor costs. In contrast, the Bestwyll Electric Retractable F-150 5.5 ft provides powered retract functionality for automated access. Manual covers require physical effort to open, while electric models offer one-touch operation. Choose the style that matches your daily usage habits.
-
Verify truck compatibility
Ensure the cover is compatible with your specific truck model. The Bestwyll Electric Retractable F-150 5.5 ft is explicitly listed for Ford F-150 trucks. The Bestwyll 5.8 ft Retractable Hard Cover is compatible with Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks. Selecting a cover designed for a different manufacturer can lead to installation issues. Check the compatible truck list in the specifications to confirm your vehicle matches the product requirements.
-
Assess material durability
Hard tonneau covers generally offer superior security and protection compared to soft options. The Bestwyll 5.8 ft Retractable Hard Cover provides durable aluminum construction for secure storage. Hard structures resist impacts and provide a solid barrier against theft. This structure also contributes to a low profile appearance. Consider the material strength when evaluating long-term protection for your cargo and the aesthetic impact on your truck bed.
-
Review water resistance
Check the waterproof claims to understand protection against the elements. The Bestwyll Electric Retractable F-150 5.5 ft is described as waterproof. This specification indicates a higher level of protection against rain and snow compared to non-waterproof models. Proper water resistance keeps your cargo dry during inclement weather. Verify this attribute in the product details to ensure your belongings remain protected from moisture and environmental exposure while traveling.

Does Bestwyll offer an electric retractable hard cover?
Yes, the Bestwyll Electric Retractable Hard Cover provides powered operation for your truck bed. This model is specifically compatible with the 5.5 ft Ford F-150 bed. It features a low-profile black finish and is marketed as waterproof. The electric motor allows for automated opening and closing with a remote or switch.
Is there a Bestwyll hard cover for a 5.8 ft Chevy Silverado bed?

What is the difference between the manual and electric Bestwyll covers?
The manual covers, like the 5.5 ft and 5.8 ft models, use a mechanical system for retracting the hard panels. The electric model, suitable for the 5.5 ft Ford F-150, uses a powered retract system for automated operation. You choose manual for simplicity and electric for added convenience and security.
Are Bestwyll hard covers compatible with all truck bed lengths?
No, you must match the cover to your specific bed length. The Bestwyll Retractable Hard Cover 5.5ft fits short beds only. The Bestwyll 5.8 ft Retractable Hard Cover is exclusively for standard 5.8 ft beds. Using the wrong size will prevent proper installation and secure fitment on your truck.
How does the retractable design improve access to the truck bed?
The retractable hard cover allows you to roll the panels back into a compact stack at the front of the bed. This design provides flexible loading positions, letting you access part or all of the cargo area. You get the security of a hard cover with the versatility of an open bed.
